This individual should possess the following qualifications:

·       Degree in Architecture

·       Professional Architecture license (preferred but not required)

·       Minimum of seven years of progressive professional experience in CA related work within an architecture firm

·       Ability to observe the construction work for general conformance with the Contract Documents, including communicating deficiency lists at relevant times during the construction process and performing Substantial Completion and Final Completion Observations

·       Issue procedural documents relevant to the Contract for Construction. These include issuing the Notice to Proceed, evaluating request for payments, preparing and issuing Change Orders and Certificates of Substantial Completion

·       Thorough knowledge of relevant government regulations, building codes, construction documents and contract administration

·       Ability to serve as a role model and mentor for others and manage team development

  • Perform quality control review of drawings and specifications during the design phases of the project

·       Effectively utilizes team member’s strengths and plans and monitors their career development

  • Review technical documents and specifications for compliance with applicable codes, constructability and risk management and produces a code review report

This position requires a person to be in the DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX vicinity and will require time spent working in the Ghafari Fort Worth office in addition to check-ins at our client sites in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX.  However, this position is remotely reporting to a discipline manager in the Chicago area. 

The Project Architect/PM will be a client focused role, with a lot of interaction with our current clients regarding their large-scale projects.  The Project Arhitect/PM directs and is responsible for the development of the design work; leads in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinates the related work of the other disciplines; and assumes in-house construction administration duties on projects of moderate to large size and complexity.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to manage moderate to large, complex projects.

  • Provide mentorship and embrace opportunities for learning with less experienced staff throughout the course of the project.

  • Establish the factual parameters of the design work (e.g., code, site restrictions, budget and schedule restraints); identify building systems options and related performance and cost criteria; and assist in the presentation of design documents.

  • Formulate the project work plan based on an approved scope of work. Plan mini-sheet work plans for assigned projects. Lead the execution of the various tasks identified therein.

  • Assume primary responsibility for the daily activities of the architectural project team and the progress of the work and for the technical quality of the Construction Documents (drawings and specifications).

  • Accurately produces schematic design, design development and construction documents.

  • Proficient at architectural graphic standards and construction drawing set organization and development.

  • Assist the Project Manager in adhering to the project schedule and budget identifying changes to the scope of the work, and related repercussions on project schedule and budget.

  • Advise the Manager of Architecture in the staffing requirements for projects.

  • Initiate and orchestrate the work of the entire project team (the various engineering and interiors disciplines, and other consultants), and facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members; assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines, documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.

  • Responsible for the management of the production of construction documents.

  • Prepare written portion of addenda and bulletins relating to architectural work.

  • Perform all in-house construction administration duties: respond to RFI’s, review and approve shop drawings, issue bulletins, etc.; provide field-representation services (at the request of the Project Manager or when deemed critical).

  • Possess/demonstrates thorough knowledge of company standards. Help maintain and improve office architectural standards, details and production tools.

  • Familiar with Revit model creation in accordance with company standards.

  • Familiar with Revit project set-up and workset/model management in accordance with company standards.

  • Familiar with laser scanning and point clouds.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred.

  • NCARB certificate required.

  • LEED preferred.

  • Registered Architect preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years related architecture experience.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Microsoft Office. Familiar with BIM360.

  • Familiar with point cloud software (e.g. Autodesk Recap).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Strong attention to detail

 Human Resources

·       Communicates GFF’s culture and communicates the firms mission, vision and values with staff 

·       Develops and promotes strong relationships within the office and throughout the firm

·       Works with Studio Director(s) to determine staffing needs, ensures proper utilization of the staff, communicates project hours scheduled and upcoming needs and regularly attends scheduling meetings

·       Actively recruit and assists in interviews with potential personnel as the workload requires

·       Arranges training and continuing education opportunities within the office

·       Will provide appropriate on-going and annual performance feedback and counseling as needed to staff

 

Technical

·       Ensures adherence to firm-wide technical standards, including but not limited to, GFF’s Standards of Practice (SOP)

·       Coordinates and communicates hardware and software needs to IT director as needed

• Working on architecture projects as a fully collaborative member of a design team, participating in design charrettes to help define strategic goals for our clients, large or small.

• Collaborating with architects to plan, design, develop and gain real-world experience working with clients across a spectrum of industries.

Qualifications:

• You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture; NAAB accredited program preferred

• You have completed your third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program and are returning to your program post-internship. This internship is not for recent graduates.

• You preferably have experience with Revit, Rhino, Sketch-Up, Enscape, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and/or the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).

• You are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• You have a positive and proactive attitude.

• You are available to dedicate 40-hours per week for at least 9 weeks during the 10-week summer program.

Operational Responsibilities

Primary Operational Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Marketing and Business Development

·       Directs the business development activities of the office by staying on top of current trends and practices in the industry, becoming familiar with the industry key players within the Fort Worth market

·       Coordinates and communicates all marketing materials with GFF’s marketing department

·       Works directly with the marketing group to recruit new clients, generating project work, and will be responsible for proposal and scope of work development, fee development, and contract negotiations

·       Increases the firm’s profile and develops marketing and business development opportunities by participating in and assuming leadership roles in the industry and community organizations 

·       Develops and nurtures long-term client relationships and serves as the primary client contact for the office

·       Be well versed in the local zoning and building codes as well as the processes of permitting within the Fort Worth jurisdiction

 

Financial

·       Establishes short and long-term objectives for revenue projections, profit, productivity, and office cost control and expenses

·       Ensures that objectives are consistent with corporate goals and priorities

·       Monitors financial performance of the office and makes required adjustments to meet or exceed profit goals set for the office  and takes corrective action when needed

·       Prepares contracts, reviews and signs invoices and monitors the financial performance of the office and of individual projects

 

 Human Resources

·       Communicates GFF’s culture and communicates the firms mission, vision and values with staff 

·       Develops and promotes strong relationships within the office and throughout the firm

·       Works with Studio Director(s) to determine staffing needs, ensures proper utilization of the staff, communicates project hours scheduled and upcoming needs and regularly attends scheduling meetings

·       Actively recruit and assists in interviews with potential personnel as the workload requires

·       Arranges training and continuing education opportunities within the office

·       Will provide appropriate on-going and annual performance feedback and counseling as needed to staff

 

Technical

·       Ensures adherence to firm-wide technical standards, including but not limited to, GFF’s Standards of Practice (SOP)

·       Coordinates and communicates hardware and software needs to IT director as needed
