Job Description:
The Capital Project Manager plans, directs and coordinates all aspects of the capital multi-million dollar, large scale, high profile and complex projects that may last 2-3 years in duration in addition to multiple small projects, all together equaling several million dollars. Responsible for the day-to-day management of all phases of capital projects from development of concept, through project initiation, completion of construction, occupancy and completion of the warranty period. Point of contact for stakeholders on campus and representative for the university when working with designers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and local and state officials. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director, Planning & Design Services and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management from an accredited Institution. Master’s Degree preferred. Architect or Engineer licensed by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners or Texas Board of Professional Engineers preferred. Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) as administered by the Project Management Institute, preferred. Leadership in Energy and Environment Design LEED Certification, preferred.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 10 years responsible professional experience in planning, contract administration and technical supervision, and construction and project management. Experience with an educational institution, hospital, or contractor specializing in institutional buildings. The candidate should have at least three years of experience commensurable to the statement of duties and responsibilities to perform this job and or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Institution of Higher Education preferred.
