NCARB 2014 Presidents Medal for Distinguished Service
FREESE AND NICHOLS’ VIDAURRI RECEIVES NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE HONOR
FORT WORTH, Texas – August 27, 2014 – Alfred Vidaurri, Jr., AIA, NCARB, AICP, LEED® AP, of Freese and Nichols, Inc., has been awarded the 2014 President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, the highest honor bestowed by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. The medal was awarded to three architects and three council members across the United States, and Vidaurri was the only recipient in Texas.
“These individuals have dedicated their time and expertise to benefit the work of the Council, the public, and the profession,” commented President Blakely C. Dunn. “It is my privilege to recognize them for their outstanding service.”
Vidaurri was recognized for his work in establishing alternatives to NCARB certification and leading the Council’s Tri-National Agreement Program, which allows qualified architects to practice in all countries throughout North America. He serves as the NCARB Southern Region chair and is in his 11th year of service on the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. For the last eight years he has served as the TBAE chair, as appointed by Gov. Rick Perry.
Vidaurri joined Freese and Nichols’ architecture group in 1994. He expanded the firm’s practice to include higher education, health care, campus planning and sustainability. He also expanded services to include landscape architecture, interior design and urban planning.
The architecture group’s recent projects include the University of North Texas Dallas College of Law, an 80,000-square-foot renovation of a historic building in downtown Dallas, and the Energy Technology Center for Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, designed with a goal of LEED Platinum certification.
Vidaurri is a registered architect in multiple states, a certified AICP planner, and a registered interior designer. He is based in Freese and Nichols' Fort Worth office as a Vice President and Principal.
